COMUNIDADES DE APRENDIZAJE EN LA E.E.P Nº 829 «Sixto Sena»
Comment of Hugo Sena – Implementer of the Schooling Program
The “Sensitization” was carried out (the first instance of this line of work), where the community is presented with the proposal of “Learning Communities”, after which the Mixed Commissions are formed. These groups enable for the realization of some of the dreams that parents, neighbours, teachers and students dreamt, in order to improve education, and make the school establishment a better place.
First, families were invited to a “Dream Day”, where the educational community (teachers, principals, parents, students and neighbors) discuss, share and express their ideas, in order to arrive to a consensus on which dreams they are going to work towards, to accomplish that year. Dreams were prioritized and left embodied on a canvas. And from there, alternatives are evaluated, to obtain resources to carry out the most tangible dreams, which were:
» School beautification (painting of the front of the building) » Mural, drawn by students. " Workshops of artistic expression. » Physical activities during school hours for students.
Within the proposal of Learning Communities we also implemented "Literary Gatherings" and "Interactive Groups". The teacher says that through Literary Gatherings children are able to improve oral expression and there is an active participation in class. Children who previously didn`t want to talk because they were too shy are encouraged to participate, and are able to express their emotions and thoughts, as well as working with values, relating them to characters from different literary works.
The Interactive Groups were carried out with the help of parents, who did so successfully, and felt very good because they could help their children together with the teacher. A father commented: “I like to participate in Interactive Groups very much, and I can somehow help the teacher who has a huge task to educate these children, and I also learn”.
This educational community participates very actively in everything that concerns the education of their children.
