2019 GRADUATES: MILTON AND ÁNGEL FROM TRES ISLETAS

Voy con Vos provided Angel and Milton the opportunity to study high school. With a lot of effort they managed to progress and finally happily graduate. In the case of Angel, it was particularly difficult for him. Many times he was about to abandon because the sacrifice was enormous, due to the great distances he had to travel just to assist to class. These two students are an example of the importance of having families that are involved and support their education. Even without appropriate academic tools themselves – as they had not finished high school- their families always accompanied Angel and Milton and encouraged them to continue studying; understanding that quality education was a fundamental tool to have a better future. Furthermore, as members of the same community, both families supported each other to make the journey easier for all. For example, Milton´s family was able to help out every Monday with the transportation so that both students could arrive at the student residence.

Delia, mother of Angel (2019 High school graduate) and Malena (scholarship holder in the 5th year of high school), shared this letter with the entire community at the graduation ceremony for Voy con Vos scholars:

“First of all, I want to thank to the team at Voy con Vos, they helped me so that my son could study, I did not havethe opportunity that these boys and girls now have to continue studying.

I am also very grateful to the Viedma family, who had the kindness to take my children to school, as I don’t have transportation to move.

It was challenging dealing with Ángel, as I´m sure it was challenging for Silvia and Tomás as well (Voy con Vos team). It seems to me that it was yesterday that he started his first year. But hey, he has arrived at the finish line, and I hope he continues studying. I feel very proud of him.

And to the boys and girls who are present here today, like my daughter, I want to tell them to continue studying. That even if you have some problem or you find it challenging, with your effort and the support of the tutors Adriana, Noe and Silvia you will be able to complete our studies, just like my son did. I also want to tell parents to continue supporting your children, as you have been doing already.

Well that was it. Thank you very much to Silvlia, Noe, Adriana and Sonia; you will continue helping the boys and girls, and my daughter who has yet to complete her studies.”
